The Christmas season is knocking at our door. I know a few people who are already putting up their Christmas Trees. I won’t be ready to decorate mine until after Thanksgiving. I like to enjoy my fall decorations for a little bit.

Gumball Machine Craft Supplies. Dessert/snack size white paper plate. Full size red paper plate or a full size white paper plate painted red. You can use grey paper or silver washi tape to add extra details like a coin slot or a gumball chute. We kept ours simple and just added a few strips of tape. This is a quick project that will take you 15 minutes or less to make., but it’s Oh So Cute! The supplies are easy to find, and this would be a fun craft for a scout or 4-H meeting.

  • Red craft paint
  • Silver Paint pen
  • Glue gun and glue sticks
  • Piece of paper or a tiny funnel

Make A Gumball Machine Craft

Use craft paint, paint your clay flower pot red. I did two coats to make sure I had good coverage. Make sure to paint the bottom of your pot, because it will show when it’s hanging on your Christmas Tree.

To make the flower pot glossy, I added a coat of ModPodge over the red paint. You can also spray it with acrylic sealer.

Using a hot glue gun, attach the clear Christmas ornament to the bottom of the flower pot. It’s challenging to get it centered so that they hook is perfectly centered.

You’re ready to add the “gumballs”. Remove the metal lid from the ornament. If you have a tiny funnel, use it to get the nonpareils into the ball. If you don’t have a funnel, folding a piece of paper into a cone will work.

Add hot glue to the metal cap before replacing it the Christmas ball so the gumballs don’t spill out.

Using a silver paint pen, draw a coin slot, turny thing (what that heck is that called???), and the gumball chute. Using a thin micron pen, add .25 to the coin slot and a dot in the center of the “turny thing”.

You’re done! Hang it on your Christmas tree. How easy was that?? I don’t recommend this for small kids, but I think older kids and preteens could make these.
